Ingredients

5 large egg yolks, at room temp.
large whole egg, at room temp.
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tea. vanilla
1 tab. rum or brandy
2 cups all-purpose flour
canola or vegetable. oil
confectioners’ sugar

Directions

1.Combine egg yolks’ whole egg and salt in bowl of mixer.Beat at high speed until thick and lemon colored about 15 min.Beat in sugar, cream,vanilla, and rum. Add flour and beat until blisters form, about 15 min.
2. Turn dough out into a floured board, divid in half, cover with plastic wrap and let rest for at lest 20 min.
3. Working  with half of the dough at one time, roll out to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 2-inch-wide strips. Cut these strips on the diagonal at 4-inch intervals.
4. Heat 2 inches of oil in a large, deep skillet to 350 degrees. mack a slit in the center of each strip of dough.

Ingredients:
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. yeast
2 cups flour

Directions:
Mix sugar and butter then heat 1/2 cup of milk to about 110˚ F and pour into a bowl. Add 1/4 tsp. vanilla, a pinch of salt, and 2 eggs. Whisk those together and add 1 tsp of yeast. Whisk that in to dissolve. Add 2 cups of flour (about 1/2 cup at a time). Use the palm of your hand and knead for about 5 minutes. Place it back in the bowl cover it and let it double in size this will take about 1 1/2 hrs. Pat dough down on lightly floured board. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thick. Then cut out round shapes. let them rise for 30 mins. Heat vegetable oil to 350˚ F. Fry in oil about 2 mins. on each side. Let cool on wire rack for at least 15 mins. Cut slit in the side and fill with fruit jelly. Top with powered sugar and enjoy!
